High Link popularity is essential these days if you want to get to the top of the Search Engine Rankings.

Even if you have optimized your page(s) perfectly for your targeted search terms, there will likely be many others who have done just as good a job. The sites in the 1-5 positions will be the ones with the largest number of POPULAR web sites on a similar theme linking back to them.

So how do you get other webmasters to put link(s) on their website back to yours? Well the simplest way is to swap or TRADE links. Get out there and find the right sort of websites to swap links with then send them an email inviting them to trade.

Your invitation should be well written and attention grabbing, or the other webmaster will likely trash your email without even looking at it. You will find a good letter you can copy and use here.

I would recommend you actually establish a link on your site to theirs, preferably on a dedicated links page, before you send your invitation, just to help convince them it is a good idea.
